Our dried Lavender bud is harvested soley from the "Folgate" culitivar. Lavendula anustifolia. Sometimes called true or common lavender is the most cold hardy of lavender varieties. It has a sweet profile with low chmphoric notes, making it a good choice for many different applications.
"Grosso" (Lavandula x intermedia) is the most widely grown culivar of lavender for oil production. This cultivar has the highest oil content of all the lavenders. Our Essential oil is steam distilled using fresh, not dried, material. "Grosso" oil is higher in camphor (think Vic's Vapor Rub) compounds then the Angustifolia counterparts. For centuries they have been valued for their antimicrobial properties. This oil is great for use in cleaning products, insect bites when added to a carrier oil, and many other bath and body products. WARNING: Always dilute before direct application to skin. Not for internal consumption.
Our Angustifolia (Lavandula x Angustifolia) oils are all steam-distilled using fresh, not dried, material. Grown on our farm, 6450ft above sea level, our lavender cultivars are in an environment that maximizes the level of esters the plants are able to produce. It is these esters which are responsible for many of the qualities of lavender we have appreciated for centuries. These sweet aromatic oils can be used for bath and body or culinary uses.
Lavender Hydrosol is the floral water separated from the essential oil during the hydrodistillation process. They contain colloidal suspensions of essential oils as well as water-soluble components obtained by steam-distillation. We have two hydrosol mixtures. "Angustifolia" and "Grosso". The Angustifolia has a sweeter floral note while the "Grosso" has more of a clean scent.

Our dried "Grosso" Bundles are harvested at the peak of the season to retain both color and bud retention on the stem. "Grosso" produces long, sturdy stems with fat buds that dry into a light lavender color. This is a great variety for crafting and dried floral bouquets.
